I am a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Konkuk University<\/a>, Seoul, Korea. I am leading the System Software Research Laboratory (SSLab)<\/a> at Konkuk University. Our main research focus is on the design of operating systems and middleware for high-end computing systems and real-time embedded systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[University Services]<\/strong> I served as the Vice President for Information & Communications of Konkuk University (2022~2024) and the Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (2008~2010).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Professional Activities]<\/strong> I am a Senior Member of IEEE<\/a> and a Life Member of Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE)<\/a> and Korea Information Processing Society (KIPS)<\/a>. I served as a Vice President of KIISE (2015, 2020, and 2024), the President of KIISE Computer Systems Society (2020~2022), and the Chair of KIISE SIGDS (2016~2017). I am also serving as an Associate Editor of Journal of Computing Science and Engineering<\/a>. I have served as a committee member for many international conferences and workshops:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Academic Background]<\/strong> Before joining Konkuk University in 2006, I was a Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University<\/a>. There I worked in Network-Based Computing Laboratory<\/a> headed by Prof. D. K. Panda for two and half years. I earned my B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Korea University<\/a> (1997, 1999, and 2003).
