Welcome to SSLAB!
The efficient networking is an ever-increasing requirement for both server and embedded systems.
The operating system is the critical system software that allows applications to utilize the network in an efficient
manner with respect to performance, real-time, and power consumption. The main research topic of
System Software Laboratory (SSLab) at Konkuk University is the design of operating systems for the next-generation architectures
of both server and embedded systems to provide the extremely high-performance communication, real-time synchronization,
and low-power communication. Specifically, our research interests includes:
Network-Based High-Performance Computing

Cluster and Grid Computing

Embedded Computing
Operating Systems

Kernel Extensions for High-Performance Computing Systems

Embedded System Software for Efficient Networking
Interconnection Networks

TCP/IP Suite over High-Speed Interconnects

User-Level Protocols

NIC (Network Interface Card) Architectures

In-Vehicle Network
We have and use following research equipments to carry out our research:
Server Platforms

2-Way Quad-Core Systems

2-Way Dual-Core Systems
Embedded Platforms

32bit and 16bit Processor based Embedded Boards
Network Interconnects

10 Gigabit Ethernet

Multiport Gigabit Ethernet

CAN (Controller Area Network)

MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transports)
Several exciting research projects are being carried out in the group. Current projects include zero-copy
data transmission and protocol offloading, intra- and inter-node communication for multi-core systems,
and OS supports for real-time remote synchronization and low-power communication. Research in the laboratory
is supported by funding from MKE(Ministry of Knowledge Economy), ETRI(Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute),
KRF(Korea Research Foundation), and Konkuk University.
